The filtration principle of an FFU primarily relies on its built-in filters, which are commonly HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) or ULPA (Ultra-Low Penetration Air) filters. The filtration process generally includes the following steps:
Air Intake: The fan in the FFU draws in the surrounding air into the device. The fan creates a negative pressure area, pulling the air through the filter.
Filter Action: The air passes through the built-in filter (such as a HEPA or ULPA filter). These filters are made of specialized fiber materials that effectively capture tiny particles and contaminants in the air. The working principles include:
Inertial Impaction: Particles in the air, due to inertia, cannot follow the airflow smoothly through the filter fibers and are captured on the filter.
Interceptive Capture: Larger particles are captured directly by coming into contact with the filter fibers.
Diffusion: For very small particles, the filter fibers capture these particles through a diffusion effect due to random motion.
